When our colleagues at Travel Life took a short break to the The Oxford Belfry Hotel & Spa, it reminded us just how fortunate we are to have such an elegant retreat right on Oxfordshire’s doorstep. Their visit combined everything a well-timed getaway should offer – relaxation, great food, boutique browsing, and the chance to enjoy some of the loveliest towns near Oxford.
The surrounding area lends itself beautifully to leisurely exploration. With places like Cirencester, Cheltenham, Marlow, and Henley-on-Thames all within comfortable reach, it’s easy to build a memorable itinerary around independent shops, cafes and heritage-rich streets. And closer to home, the honeyed architecture and calm atmosphere of Oxford’s own Oxford Covered Market provide the perfect contrast to a day spent unwinding at the hotel.
From their stay, a few details stood out: the calming scent that drifts through the property, the beautifully presented executive rooms, and a bathroom that delivered on every comfort – from fluffy robes to quality toiletries. Service appears to be a true highlight too, with staff going above and beyond to make the stay feel special. The Travel Life team were particularly impressed by the hotel’s dining experience, praising both the evening meal and a piping-hot breakfast that exceeded expectations.
The leisure facilities – a pool, gym, sauna and a well-regarded Elemis spa – add another layer of appeal. Although the team didn’t manage to book treatments this time, the spa alone is a good enough reason to return.
