Providing outstanding care is at the heart of everything Caretree does. But for the Oxfordshire-based home care provider, supporting wellbeing extends far beyond the practical delivery of care services.
That philosophy is reflected in one of the company’s most popular initiatives – its regular Thought of the Week feature, a series of engaging wellbeing graphics and articles shared through the Caretree website and distributed to clients, families, staff, healthcare professionals and community stakeholders.
Covering topics ranging from nutrition and emotional wellbeing to resilience, mindset and healthy living, the feature has become a valued source of trusted information and positive encouragement for readers across Oxfordshire.
For Jade Grigg, Director of Care at Caretree, the initiative reflects the organisation’s wider commitment to supporting the whole person, not simply responding to care needs.
“At Caretree, we have always believed our role extends beyond providing excellent care,” says Jade. “We wanted to create something that offers genuine value to the wider community – something informative, uplifting and thought-provoking that people can take away and apply in their everyday lives.”
That simple idea has evolved into a growing library of wellbeing-focused content designed to encourage reflection, spark conversations and promote healthier lifestyles.
Small ideas that make a difference
In today’s world, people are constantly exposed to information, advice and opinions from countless sources. Finding guidance that is accessible, balanced and genuinely useful can often feel overwhelming.
The Thought of the Week series aims to cut through that noise.
Rather than lengthy reports or complicated health advice, each edition presents a straightforward concept in a visually engaging format that can be understood in just a few minutes.
Recent topics have explored the nutritional benefits of avocados, highlighting how small dietary choices can support heart health and overall wellbeing. Another examined the science behind hugs, exploring research that links positive physical connection with reduced stress and improved mood.
A particularly thought-provoking edition focused on the concept of perspective, encouraging readers to consider whether success and opportunity are always a matter of luck, or whether our mindset influences the possibilities we notice around us.
“The response has been incredibly positive,” says Jade. “People often tell us that the graphics start conversations with family members, colleagues or friends. Sometimes a simple idea can encourage someone to think differently about their health, wellbeing or outlook on life.”
Supporting wellbeing beyond care
The initiative also reflects a growing recognition that wellbeing is influenced by far more than physical health alone.
Emotional resilience, social connection, confidence, purpose and mindset all play an important role in quality of life – particularly for older people and those receiving support at home.
Through its live-in and domiciliary care services, Caretree sees first-hand how important these factors can be.
The organisation’s carers often build meaningful relationships with the people they support, becoming trusted companions as well as professional caregivers. Those daily interactions provide valuable insight into the challenges many individuals face, from loneliness and anxiety to maintaining confidence and independence.
“Good care is never just about completing tasks,” Jade explains. “It is about helping people feel valued, respected, connected and supported. Our Thought of the Week reflects many of the same values that guide our care services every day.”
A commitment to community
For Caretree, sharing knowledge is another way of supporting the communities it serves.
The company has built a strong reputation for delivering personalised, clinically led care across Oxfordshire, but initiatives such as Thought of the Week demonstrate a desire to make a broader contribution to local wellbeing.
Each feature is carefully selected to provide practical value while remaining engaging and accessible to a wide audience.
Some topics focus on physical health. Others explore psychology, relationships, habits or resilience. Together, they create a growing resource that reflects Caretree’s belief that wellbeing is influenced by many interconnected factors.
As Jade puts it: “If one of our Thought of the Week features helps someone make a healthier choice, feel more positive, start an important conversation or simply smile for a few moments during a difficult day, then it has achieved exactly what we hoped it would.”
In a sector often defined by care plans, regulations and clinical outcomes, there is something refreshing about an organisation taking the time to share ideas that simply encourage people to live well.
Sometimes the smallest thoughts can have the biggest impact.
