Loake recognises the importance of Oxford as one of the most vibrant and influential retail centres in the UK. Potential customers are drawn from the local geographical area, together with a huge flow of visitors all year round, providing a substantial and vibrant marketplace for a switched on retailer.

Loake plans to massively re-energise the retail experience in its stores and have chosen The Brogue Trader Ltd and its enigmatic MD Chris Macnamara, as its retail partner in this venture and to spearhead this groundbreaking development. Their plan is being launched with a business model which uses old-fashioned retail values blended with state of the art multi-channel retail techniques.

Loake and The Brogue Trader’s Chris Macnamara are confident their plans will revolutionize the premium shoe retailing business.

The Brogue Trader in Cardiff opened in 2013 and has enjoyed both business success and industry-wide recognition for its approach to business under the leadership of Chris Macnamara.

Chris said, “In today’s challenging premium retail marketplace, I believe we have to take a step back to go forward. Step back by rekindling the art of the independent retailing experience, we’re creating a gentleman’s community here.

“There’s always a cold beer, strong espresso or stiff whisky awaiting our customers, combined with friendly and knowledgeable staff who are passionate about what we do, which all make for an outstanding and enjoyable shopping experience. As a result, many of our customers keep in touch and are loyal to the brand.”

The innovative approach has been recognised by The Footwear Industry Awards, which crowned The Brogue Trader as New Independent Footwear Retailer year of 2015.

The future looks bright for The Brogue Trader, with plans for further expansion to add to the current four locations which are currently situated in Cardiff, Bath, Edinburgh, Canterbury, Chester and Leeds so well on target for ten stores across the UK within five years of opening The Brogue Traders first store.

Chris added, “The location in the retail centre of Oxford is perfect for us. We are located alongside other premium retailers within the new Westgate Centre and this generates a degree of modest sophistication for our customers.”
